Diwali Art Workshop in Delhi NCR for Schools, Colleges, Cafés and Home Groups

Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026. If you are organising a Diwali art workshop in Delhi NCR for a school, a college fest, a café, a residential society or a group of friends and family, this guide covers the three Diwali formats Kraftykinni runs for these groups: Diya Painting, the Lippan Mirror Tealight Holder and Madhubani Art Coasters.

Every session is guided step by step by Shramita Govil, a Fevicryl Certified Artist, with all materials included and no prior art experience needed. Looking for an office celebration instead? See our guide to Diwali workshop ideas for offices.

Who Books a Diwali Art Workshop

Schools run Diya Painting or Madhubani Art Coasters as a Diwali craft period. Kraftykinni's school workshops cover students from Grade 3 through college level, and the facilitator travels to your school. The school art workshops page has group formats and pricing.

Colleges book a live Diya Painting or coaster-painting stall as part of an annual Diwali Mela.

Cafés book Diya Painting or Diwali Jar Painting as a festive pop-up session for customers, a sip-and-craft format alongside chai and Diwali snacks.

Residential societies and community groups book a private session at a club, community hall or residential complex, so neighbours can make something together for Diwali.

Home groups of 10 or more, whether family, friends or a kitty party, book a session in a living room or a rented venue. Kraftykinni brings all the supplies and you provide tables, chairs and good lighting. Details are on the private art workshops page.

Three Diwali Art Workshop Formats for Schools and Groups

These are the same three formats that appear in our guide for offices, with notes here for schools, colleges, cafés, societies and home groups. In each one, every participant finishes a piece to take home.

1. Diya Painting

Duration: 60–75 minutes · Take-home: Yes

Participants hand-paint clay diyas with acrylic colours, floral motifs and metallic detailing, using the same Clay Art technique. There is no wheel and no kiln, and every design comes out different. It is our most-requested Diwali format, and at 60–75 minutes it is one of the shorter ones, which suits a school period or a stall at a college Diwali Mela.

2. Lippan Mirror Tealight Holder

Duration: 75–90 minutes · Take-home: Yes

Participants build a round mirror-inlay plate around a central tealight, using the same Lippan Art technique, the mud-and-mirror inlay work from Kutch, Gujarat. It is a good option when a group has already done diya painting before and wants something that still feels festive but different.

3. Madhubani Art Coasters

Duration: 60–90 minutes · Take-home: Yes

Participants hand-paint a Madhubani folk-art design onto a set of wooden coasters. Elephants, fish and birds are popular motifs. It gives a school or college group a cultural-heritage angle, along with a functional piece that people actually use at home.

Which Diwali Format Fits Your Group

  • Residential society or home group that wants a display piece → Lippan Mirror Tealight Holder
  • Shorter slot → Diya Painting (60–75 minutes)
  • Cultural or heritage angle → Madhubani Art Coasters
  • Did diya painting last year → Lippan Mirror Tealight Holder

Booking Deadlines for Diwali 2026

Diwali is on Sunday, 8 November 2026. The notice periods above count back from your event date, not from Diwali itself. A session held on Diwali Sunday needs a private booking by Tuesday, 3 November (5 days' notice) or a school or college booking by Sunday, 1 November (7 days' notice).

Those are minimums, not recommendations. Weekend dates fill first, and for private groups we suggest booking about two weeks ahead for a Saturday. For Saturday, 7 November, that means enquiring by around 24 October.

How a Diwali Art Workshop Works

Before the event: you choose the format, group size, date and venue.

On the day: Kraftykinni brings all the materials. Shramita Govil demonstrates the technique and then guides everyone step by step. For private bookings you only need to provide tables, chairs and adequate lighting.

At the end: every participant finishes a piece to take home. Kraftykinni has run 50+ workshops for 1,500+ participants across Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida.
